  • Piano

The foundation. Reading, technique, and theory that carry to every other instrument.

  • Guitar

First chords to fingerstyle, built around the songs students actually want to play.

  • Ukulele

Quick wins and small hands welcome. A favourite first instrument for young beginners.

Lessons start on the instrument the student is drawn to. Skills transfer, and second instruments are always welcome later.

Studio policies

Simple and consistent, so lesson time stays about the music.

  1. Weekly time slot

Students commit to a weekly lesson time for the year. Consistency is what turns practice into progress.

  2. Missed lessons

If a week does not work, the lesson is rescheduled within the same week rather than skipped.

  3. Payment

Tuition is paid four weeks in advance by e-transfer to rachelletherese@gmail.com.

  4. Discontinuing

A two-week notice applies when ending lessons.

  5. Between lessons

Students are welcome to text or email questions and share recordings for feedback any time during the week.

Rachelle Risling at the piano in her Burlington studio

Rachelle Risling

Master of Music, University of Toronto · ARCT, Royal Conservatory · 20 years teaching

Rachelle started piano at age four and has taught for two decades across Burlington and Oakville. Every student learns differently, so every lesson plan is different: reading music, playing by ear, or writing something entirely new. All Things Music marked ten years of students, recitals, and first songs this spring.

One of the most impressive aspects of Rachelle's teaching style is her ability to tailor the lessons to our child's unique needs and learning style.
